Gateshead Link

What is a LINk?

LINks (Local Involvement Networks) give you the opportunity to influence local health and social care in services.  LINks have been set up in every local authority to make sure that people in that area get the health and social care services they need.  Anyone can get involved

Gateshead LINk wants to hear about your experiences of health and social care services and your ideas for improvements or changes.  Gateshead LINk can help bring about changes - whether they are big or small.

How Does Gateshead LINk Work?

Gateshead LINk is made up of individuals and community groups who work together to improve local health and social care.  The job of Gateshead LINk is to find out what people like and dislike about local services, and work with the people who plan and run them to make them better.

LINks also have powers to help them do their job and make sure that changes happen.  The more people get involved in Gateshead LINk, the stronger and more influential it becomes.

What is a Enter and View?

People who use health and social care services, their carers and the public generally, have expectations about the experience they want to have of those services and want the opportunity to express their view as to whether their expectations were met.

There will be times when it is helpful for authorised LINk representatives to observe the delivery of services and for them to collect the views of people whilst they are directly using those services.

LINks may, in certain circumstances, enter health and social care premises to observe and assess the nature and quality of services and obtain the views of the people using those services.

LINks’ role is not to seek out faults with local services, but to consider the standard and provision of care services and how they may be improved.

Who from a LINk can conduct a visit?

Certain individuals can be authorised to enter, view and observe health and social care activities being carried out – these individuals are referred to as ‘authorised representatives’.

An authorised representative must :

How to get to Gateshead LINk

BY METRO

The nearest metro station to GVOC is the main Gateshead stop. Exit the Gateshead Interchange onto "High West Street" and walk away from the shopping area around 400m to the Durham Road Baptist Church. Landmarks that you pass on the way should be the police station on the left and the Swallow Hotel on the right.

BY BUS

GVOC is serviced by many main bus routes into the centre of Gateshead. The stop directly outside the building is the 'Durham Road slip road', next to the Swallow Hotel. If you are travelling from further away, the best option is to use the main Gateshead Interchange stop and follow the directions for 'By Metro' from there.

BY CAR
Parking is available in the surrounding streets, especially Granville Street. There is also a car park in Gladstone Terrace which is inexpensive.
