The Healthwatch Gateshead contract has been awarded to the Carers Federation

Healthwatch Gateshead will begin to operate on 2nd April 2013

Gateshead LINk will cease operations on

31st March 2013

The Carers Federation have said

“Healthwatch is the new independent consumer champion for health and social care.  Carers Federation are pleased to have been awarded the contract for Healthwatch Gateshead in addition to successfully retaining the contract for provision of NHS Complaints Advocacy. 

Our aim is to develop a Healthwatch which is rooted in communities across Gateshead, and acts in a way to ensure that it is representative of the local population and promotes community involvement in the commissioning, provision and scrutiny of health and social services.

Healthwatch will also provide or signpost people to information to help them make choices about health and social care services.  We look forward to meeting you at future consultations, events and meetings”

The new Healthwatch Gateshead website will go live on the 2nd April 2013 and will be found at www.healthwatchgateshead.co.uk

Healthwatch England - Website

Healthwatch England is the new, independent consumer champion for health and social care in England. Its job is to argue for the consumer interest of all those who use health and social care services.  Local Healthwatch organisations begin work in April 2013.

Anna Bradley, Chair of Healthwatch England, has been talking to Shana Pezaro about her ambitions for the new organisation.
